Outlook users

  • If you use an offline email program such as Microsoft Outlook, you will not notice any change, however you may need to sign into the old server to check that no email are remaining on the old server. ( This would be a very limited number or none at all dependent on how long the new server setting took to propergate.)
    • Here is the old webmail server: http://66.226.8.80/Login.aspx
    • Sign in using your normal email address and password ( If you require help with this Contact Us)
and there is nothing you need to do.

Smartermail webmail users

  • If you had contacts saved on the old server, you will find that these have been transferred to the new one. Please check and ensure they are present.
  • Any email left on the webmail server cannot be transferred to the new server. However, you can still sign into the old server for a limited period to read, print, or forward any important emails.

Synergy.IT Limited T/A - THe Sales Creator

Domain Name Server (DNS) records tell the web browser which internet protocol (ip) address to go when a person types a domain name into the address field. The DNS server translates written domain names into ip numbers.

For our purposes, we handle all DNS settings at the customer's domain registrar. If the domain belongs to a website that was previously hosted elsewhere, then you may need to restore the "Name Servers" to the registrar's own name servers, otherwise, DNS settings cannot be applied. The registrar will provide a button for this.

Each Synergy.IT/The Sales Creator application has its own ip address - Please see your own documentation for this ip number.

* For example, the Synergy.IT/The Sales Creator web application uses 75.126.17.171
* The Synergy.IT/The Sales Creator web server also has its own ip address: 75.126.107.229.
* The Synergy.IT/The Sales Creator email server is referenced using the domain name "mail.wonderwebs.net"

What records are required

When adding a new website and email services to a Synergy.IT/The Sales Creator , we must provide the following DNS records to the domain registrar:

* The "A" record points to your Synergy.IT/The Sales Creator application ip
* The "CName" Alias record points to mail.wonderwebs.net
* The "MX" Mail record points to mail.wonderwebs.net
* The "TXT" or "SPF" record is provided below

SPF Records

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) records are an important part of configuring email services for your customers. This record indicates which servers are allowed to send email for a given sender address. Emails that do not reference a valid SPF record are increasingly likely to be tagged as spam or bounced. If WonderWebs is not providing email services for the customer, then a different SPF record will be required.

The following SPF record can be used for all domains that have email services also hosted at Synergy.IT/The Sales Creator. Should the mail server ip change, then this record will need to be updated for each domain.

v=spf1 a mx ip4:75.126.107.229 ip4:66.228.120.12 ~all

Applying records

Every domain registrar has its own control panel with varying levels of access to these records. Some, such as Register Direct do not allow for an SPF record, whilst Domainz doesn't allow for anything much at all. It is therfore advisable to encourage customers to purchase their domains at a suitable registrar such as Freeparking, or help them transfer their domain to such a registrar. Transfers are very easy to do and often provide an extra year of registration as a bonus.

Examples

Here are examples of the DNS settings pages from several registrars. Note that the server ip used here specifically belongs to WonderWebs.com and you should insert your own in its place.

Freeparking

Discount Domains

Register Direct
This registrar did not allow an SPF record to be applied.

GoDaddy

Note that the POP and SMTP Cnames records have also been set to mail.wonderwebs.net in this example. This is not required.

"If anything can go wrong, it will": In spite of intricate planning, rehearsals and the best of your efforts, things may not always run smoothly and last minute glitches can occur. Do not panic - be prepared. Have a backup plan in place. Arrange for emergency power backups and other technical backup systems. If an inordinate delay occurs (for example a performing artist does not show up on time), plan in advance how to handle the situation and keep the audience occupied.

There is no "I" in teamwork: An event involves a number of players. In some large scale events, it is mind boggling to think of the sheer number of players involved. For example, in a music concert – musicians, sound technicians, light technicians, stage technicians, sponsors, celebrities and of course the general audience. Each of these parts has to function smoothly in order for the whole to work. Communication is the key. Frequent meetings, briefings and rehearsals are needed for everyone to understand what their responsibilities and how they need to coordinate. During the event have effective communication and coordination mechanisms like wireless headsets, or cell phones. In teamwork, most of all, it is important to forsake egos. Don't try to blame others for anything for what might go wrong – instead the entire team should work in close coordination to cover for the slightest mistake made by an individual.

Rules are not always meant to be broken: Organizing an event also requires number of approvals, permissions and procedures to be obtained. These range from permission from the police, civic authority clearances, environmental clearances etc. Make sure you, or your customer, have sought and obtained all the necessary approvals and permissions. Stick within the boundaries of the provisions during the event. Never ever make the mistake of landing up in the wrong side of the law.

Tools of the trade: It is also very important to have a grasp over the technicalities that run the show. Arrangement for the correct technical equipment and skilled technicians is of prime importance. Nothing can be more embarrassing than a piece of equipment malfunctioning in the middle of the show. Pay attention to detail – for example when two projectors are beaming simultaneously on two ends of the stage, they must be in sync and have the same color balance. Have the technicians check and recheck the equipments before the show starts.

Time it Right! When planning an event, work out a plausible time span. No event should be a hurried, hectic affair and neither should it be a long drawn out affair which puts the audience's patience to test. The agenda should be well balanced, with adequate time contingencies built in.

Prepare today, execute tomorrow: Once a high level understanding of whats needed to be done is obtained, it’s time for the planning phase. Chalk up a plan of what action is to be taken, and then. Assign responsibilities to the your various team members. Track the progress of each planned action to completion. Before a big event, it is crucial to conduct dry runs and simulations. If possible, try and involve the customer in such a dry run and walk them through what he may expect during the actual event. This will prevent unpleasant surprises.

Set the Stage: What is perfect for a few people may turn out to be a claustrophobic experience for a hundred. It is very important to know the number of people who are expected to attend the event beforehand. Make sure the customer has intimated his requirements to you clearly. The choice of the venue will depend on this factor. Very often the decision of choosing a venue is taken jointly with the customer. After the venue is chosen it is essential to obtain maps, scout the location, and take notes.
