The Friendship Club was started 3 years ago with 30 members and now has 122. Previously it was known as the Travel Club.
Our meetings are held on the last Sunday of the month in the Monte Cassino Lounge at the RSA at 11am followed by light lunch provided by the Restaurant. We usually have about 70 at these meetings. We hold a raffle on the day to raise funds so we can subsidize meals and trips .Our subs per year is $10, but you must be a member of the RSA to join this Section.

We do trips away for three or four days at a time. We have been to Rotorua for the Military Tattoo in 2008; New Plymouth 2008 to the Rhododendron festival; Napier Art Deco in 2009. In addition in 2010 we have been on over 40 Day trips. These excursions have been to Hamilton and Ngatea Gardens; Waiheke; Zoo; Ryders lunch and movie twice ;Mystery Trips ; Raglan and Cambridge for friendship Clubs get togethers; Matakohe Kauri Forest ;Alpacas; Browns Bay RSA for lunch trip to the shops while some played the pokies ; smaller trips to Butterfly Creek and the Casino and the very popular harbour cruise to name a few. So as you can see we have lots of adventures.
We held a ‘Big Day In’ this year with a visit from Raglan; Cambridge and Huntly made the day wonderful .Morning Teas are held every 2 months with a trading table. Any member of the RSA can join our section. Couples or people on their own and it is good way of meeting people and getting out and about doing things that you may perhaps not normally do especially if you are on your own.
To end this year we will go to Hamilton to the Xmas Lights and have dinner.
2011 we have a trip to the Sunshine Coast Australia planned with several booked already .If you would like to join our section we would like to you would be most welcome.
